Description
From 2003 Champorcher belongs to the Mont Avic Regional Park, the fi rst and the only regional Aosta Valley park. It was established in 1989 to protect the high part of the valley of the Chalamy Torrent situated in the commune of Champdepraz. One part of the Dondena valley ( on the orographical left of the Ayasse Torrent, up to Miserin Lake and up to the border of the Gran Paradiso National Park in Cogne valley) lies within the Mont Avic Regional Park. So it has been created an extraordinary link of protected areas at high altitude, lay also to the Vanoise French National Park. It is well known and appreciated for its numerous lakes, its rich and varied fl ora, especially in the calcareous zone of Dondena. In addition, it possesses the largest forest of hooked pine of the Italian Alps. Th ere are interesting rocky areas of various nature. To discovery the Park, the zone called “Le Crite” is the starting point for diff erent walks and is situated over the two villages of Mont Blanc. Excursions of greater or lesser diffi culty take you up to Muff é and Vernouille lakes and to the zone of Bianco, Nero, Cornuto, Vallette and Gran Lake lakes, over the peak that marks the border of the territory of Champdepraz.
